“Pro Musica brings world class classical music to San
Miguel year round at reasonable prices. Our concerts range from string
quartets to solo piano recitals through classical guitar to an annual festival
of baroque music. Our regular venue is the 200 seat St Paul’s church where
the acoustics are excellent and the atmosphere intimate. Our regular concert
series takes place on Saturday and Sundays at 5 pm from September to March.
In mid February we stage the baroque festival of nine concerts in a week
at venues throughout the city and surrounding areas.
Our Patron Membership gives donors excellent benefits ranging from free concert tickets to ‘Meet The Artists’ dinners in private homes. Categories of membership range from US$100 - US$5,000. Regular patrons may buy series tickets for 3, or 9 concerts giving priority seating at discounted prices.
Pro Musica has recently begun to commission new works from Mexican composers and we stage these world premiers each year at St Paul’s. Our first commission was underwritten by one of our members in honor of his wife. The music performed at our concerts ranges from the 18th century to contemporary and covers Beethoven to Berg, Schubert to Schonberg and much, much more.
Guest musicians enjoy performing on our Steinway grand piano, immaculately maintained and kept in humidity-controlled conditions in a special room at St Paul’s. Our concert goers are equally as important to us and by joining the Pro Musica family you will be helping us to make possible a musical life unparalleled in any other city of comparable size in Mexico.
