Our Projects
WE
COMMISSION WORKS FROM MEXICAN COMPOSERS
Pro-Musica supports Mexican composers by:
• Commissioning works.
• Premiering their finished compositions for the San Miguel public.
• Working toward the publication and recording of these commissioned
works.
Grants from $1,000 USD and up are needed and will be very welcome. At
this level you will be personally involved with the composer whose work
you commission. You will experience the creative and performing process
in an intimate way not otherwise available.

A
Steinway of Our Own
Our practice is to provide
the maximum possible compensation to our professional artists while offering
low-cost tickets. Revenue is derived from ticket sales and donations
from our supporters.
We purchased our 1927 5 1/2 foot Steinway for US$8,000 in 2000
and in December 2006 have made the final annual payment of US$1,000,
thanks to the generosity of our many benefactors. In
December 2006 we also purchased a humidity control system for the
piano that will be installed prior to the start of our rainy season
late in May.With the generous help of several benefactors
in 2006 we purchased new strings, pads, and other needed parts
and have completely re-built the piano, which now has its
powerful, original Steinway sound. The total cost of this renovation
was just over US$6,000.
We deeply appreciate the wonderful support that Pro Musica has received
from San Miguel residents and visitors alike over the six years of
our existence. Thank you all very much! As indicated on our Membership
page, this financial support assures the continuation of our concert
series and enables us to subsidize ticket sales revenues when our
audiences are small (for various reasons) in order to pay reasonable
fees to our professional artists plus their transportation expenses.
We also plan to commission chamber music compositions by Mexican
composers when sufficient funds are available.
